The hardest part of my job is: Finding times to meet with everyone, because everyone has a different schedule!
Why should students get involved with the SA?: When you are on the SA you find out a lot about what happens around the school.  You tend to know more that is going on, and you are then the ones that let the rest of the school know!  Its a really good way to stay involved at the school.

The hardest part of my job is: So far it is getting elections ready because I don't have a committee to help, but the rest of the E-board and other helpful people have helped made the process easier.
Why should students get involved in SA?: It is a great way to learn about what is happening at Saint Mike's and its a great place to meet cool and interesting people.

Name: Brian Healey
Graduation Year: 2012
Title (E-Board Position): Secretary of Athletics
My responsibilities include: It's a very new position, so my job is to create something of a standard for what this position. Right now, I'm working on getting an "Athlete of the Week" program up and running in order to help even out media coverage between different teams. I'll also be working with booking shuttles to games for fans, helping Carlos Vega in the AD with bolstering school spirit, and helping with club sports planning as well.
The hardest part of my job is: Scheduling! We're a lot of very busy people-but I don't think any of us would have it any other way.
Why should students get involved with the SA?: It's the best, most all encompassing way to become involved on campus and to have your voice heard, along with developing leadership skills and connecting with your peers to better SMC.
Activities outside the SA: Tennis Team Captain, LBLS Coordinator, Intern at America Express Travel Agency

Name: Eric Jaukkuri

Title (E-Board Position): Co-Secretary of Programming
My responsibilities include: scheduling SA activities, planning the Welcome Back Bash, P-Day, the Comedian and the Concert. Jill and I are also here as references to help SA clubs plan any major events.
The hardest part of my job is: to stay organized and not to get frustrated if something is not going according to planned.
Why should students get involved with the SA?: Students should get involved in the SA because it is a great way to meet new friends, be a leader and know first hand what is going on around campus.
Activities outside the SA: I am on the Extended Service Committee, an Orientation Leader, Tour Guide, member of Green Up and am helping to create an Eco- Rep program on campus.

Name: Sunny Masison
Graduation Year: 2012
Title (E-Board Position): Secretary of Academics
My responsibilities include: maintaining relationship with the library and making changes to library hours/policy according to student input, providing student feedback to IT (in an academic sense of technology), student representative on the Faculty Curriculum and Educational Policy Committee, and depending on student interest also giving input and putting together programming with the Director of Study Abroad, Career Services and other Academic resources like tutoring.
The hardest part of my job is: The fact that Curriculum and Educational Policy Committee meetings went to 8:15 am this semester. Kidding! I think getting students involved and getting student opinion on academic topics - it's harder to get input on the library or computers than it might be to get input on entertainment or the dining service.
Why should students get involved with the SA?: Because this is our school! If more students get involved and weigh in on an issue, we can make a change or at least get to a clear reason why it can't happen. On a personal level, it gives students the opportunities to get involved with things that specifically interest them. For me, I actually really love sitting in on Curriculum Committee meetings. For Eric and Jill, they love putting on events for the students. There is not just one "type" of student that should get involved in the SA and will enjoy it - lots of students can find their niche and find ways to explore things they really care about as they relate to the Saint Mike's community.
Activities outside the SA: MOVE Core Team for Extended Service Committee, ACA of the 400's Townhouses, I've participated on Leap teams in the past, I tutor Spanish and I'm "learning" to run and running in my first little "races" this fall.

The hardest part of my job is: Attending lots of meetings and trying to please nearly 2,000 diverse students.
Why should students get involved with the SA?: It's a great way to meet students and faculty who are passionate about making St. Mike's an even better institution.
Activities outside the SA: MOVE Little Brother/Little Sister Coordinator

Name: Rachel Stone

Graduation Year: 2012

Title (E-Board Position): Secretary of Communications

My responsibilities include: Responsible for communication between the Student Association and the student body. I manage the e-mail, website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts for the student association (http://smcvtsa.com/, SMC Student Association – facebook, and @SMCVT_SA)
The hardest part of my job is: The hardest part of my job is to make sure I communicate reliable information to the students in a timely fashion that encourages participation and sparks interest in the goings on of the college. I must work to clearly and informatively communicate through different platforms – social networks, email, flyers, etc. - on behalf of other SMC representatives and leaders in an enticing way to be sure students are aware of everything going on at St. Michael’s – from programming events to club meetings, school wide announcements, and activities and discussion that occurs within the student association senate.

Why should students get involved with the SA?: There are countless ways for students to contribute to our school and the SA has significant power in deciding what opportunities are available to SMC students. SMC provides opportunities to participate in clubs and activities that appeal to individual interests and can ultimately better the SMC environment, society in general, and each student individually making them a well-rounded and educated member of society upon graduation. It is very important to get involved in the SA because as a student you have a voice that will be a factor in creating these social and academic opportunities and events for our student body.

Activities outside the SA: Student Global AIDS Campaign/Dear Hillary Campaign/Little Brother Little Sister
